What Is A Professional Custom Paint Job?
A custom paint job is when a shop paints your car a completely different color from the current one of your car. At West Coast Body and Paint we can help you create your own custom color or match any color you desire.
Why would you want to paint your car a custom color?
This option is for those clients who want their cars to stand out, be unique, or for nostalgic reasons.
How is the job done? The Process
Preparing your car for paint. Like all quality paint jobs, there is a standard paint preparation process we follow, the only difference in a custom paint job is the color. You design your custom color for your car.
Pick your color and finish. Choosing the right color is crucial for a custom paint job because it will be the color your car will be “married” to, so make sure you are completely in love with it. Once you have an idea of what the color you want, our skilled paint technician (sometimes) will make a sample of it so you can feel comfortable with your choice.
*Especially if you’re building a hot rod, muscle car, classic car or a custom car, it is a good idea to take a sample of your custom color and see it under as many different lighting conditions as possible to make sure it’s the right color for your vehicle.
Painting your car your custom color. With your color picked out, we make a reality, our skilled technician will paint your car your custom color in our paint booth. We only use the best paints Sherwin-Williams and Transtar offers. After this all you have left to do is decided on the finish.
Painting your car it’s paint finish. Along with the color selection, you have additional options for the finish, which include:
How much does it cost to professionally paint your car a custom color?
The cost to change the color of your car to a custom color is in the price range of 4K-8K. Why so much you ask? Several reasons, first of all West Coast Body and Paint is not a one-day shop, this is a superior professional paint shop. We guarantee our work, from start to finish we do the job right and the quality reflects this. If you are still wondering why other one-day shops charge less, read here.
Factors we consider before we reach an estimate are:
- Condition of your car (does it need any body work)
- Paint color you desire (some colors are more expensive than others)
- Paint quality you choose
- Size of your vehicle
Another reason why this option is more expensive than let’s say, a traditional same color complete paint job is because it requires more work, paint, and materials. When we change the entire color of a car, this includes the door jambs, what we consider the “interior” of the vehicle. This is the area you see when you open your trunk, doors, or hood, those areas also need to be painted. Not only that, but the car needs to be disassembled in order to get it done correctly. This is means more labor hours, paint, and materials we need to use. All said and done, all these steps ensure a top-quality paint job.
“Jaider did an awesome job painting new side skirts for my BMW and at a very reasonable price! Black sapphire metallic is a very difficult color to get right but he was able to get the color right and paint blank side skirts and get them installed on my car. He was extremely flexible and made sure that it was done right. Highly highly recommended!!”

We know that many clients like the convenience of sending pictures of their car and request an estimate; but, in reality an estimate by this means is not really reliable. Why? Because the estimate will either be too high or too low. In order to assess the damage and give an estimate, a car needs to be seen by a professional and in person. This insures that the estimate is as accurate as possible, not too high or too low. For more information click here.
