1967 Camaro Repair and Repaint

1967 CAMARO

This 1967 Camaro got a repair and repaint restoration job done because we didn’t go down to the metal and the entire car was not completely disassembled.  The client wanted to change the color from this dark blue to a modern metallic silver.  Turned out really nice.

First we grinded the car down a few panels but not the entire car.

We fixed all the body lines, waves, and damages.

dscn8897

Next the body was ready for bondo application.  A few spots needed attention more than others.  So we took care of that.

dscn8900

For example this quarter panel got the bondo treatment.

dscn8902

After the bondo dried, we began the sanding process.  Critical stage where we need to smooth the panels but keep the lines straight.  Got rid of the bumps and waves to create a seamless panel.

This is a perfect example why we don’t give estimate without seeing the entire car, we need to see what is under everything even the vinyl.  Estimates over the phone or just looking at pictures don’t reveal everything.  That is why many clients get surprised when they get a call regarding these additional costs.  In order to avoid this, it’s best to let us look at the car in person.

The rust was extremely bad, but we managed to neutralize the rust by grinding the excess and encapsulating the remaining afterrust.

dscn8914

Here is our bodyman grinding that stuff off!

After that we primed the car and then block sanded.

I’m blocking sanding, getting it ready for paint application.

dscn9081

After the entire car has been sanding and we check that all the lines and curves are in their respective places, we prep the car for paint.

dscn9207

Masked and ready to go.  This is the sealer.

After the sealer the base coat, paint, and finally clear coat.

The client wanted to add some stripes on the hood only.  Here we are “drawing” up the lines for the stripes.

dscn9221

Once the lines are measured several times and we make sure everything is straight as an arrow we mask the piece up and get it ready for stripes.

In keeping with the color, the stripes stayed within the same tones as the color of the car.

dscn9233

Stripes dones and color sanding.

That’s it!  Let me know what you think on the comments below.

“Had to get my front bumper and fender repainted and I’m very glad I came to the right place. Jaider was great to work with and was very reasonable with pricing. Even with my paint color being complicated to match and some other issues that came up he stood by what he said. He was very honest and actually told me more information on the process than he needed to and I really appreciate that. Needless to say my car came back looking FLAWLESS! Immaculate paint job I am extremely pleased.”
