After A Car Crash Checklist

Exchange Information with the driver(s) of the other vehicle(s) in the car crash.

If the driver involved in the car crash does not own the car, get the registered owner’s information.

Don’t admit fault of the car crash.

Document everything.

• Pictures of the accident with street signs or identifiable buildings in the background
• Close up pictures of the damage to all vehicles involved
• Pictures of the accident in all angles
• Parties involved
• Witnesses

Gather witness of the car crash and passenger information.

Speak to law enforcement and get his/her information.

• Officer’s name

Draw a diagram of the car crash.

Call your insurance company.

• Get claim number

If applicable and in your policy.

• Get a reservation number for a car rental
• Get a tow truck

Take your car to the auto body shop of your choice and give them pertinent information.

Inform your insurance company what body shop your car is at.

• The insurance company will send out an appraiser to go look at your car at that auto body shop.
• The appraiser will give an estimate of repairs to the auto body shop.
• The insurance company will deal with your auto body shop to repair your vehicle.
• The insurance company and/or the auto body shop will keep you posted on the status of your vehicle.

Pick up your car at the auto body and paint shop and make payment.
