The Mopar Restoration Process

The Consultation

During your consultation we will discuss the following:

At the end of the consultation we will review the project with the bodyman and paint technician and provide you with an initial estimate.

The initial estimate is a preliminary estimate.  It can be your only estimate as long as no additional damages are discovered during the restoration process, and/or you do not add, change or modify to your original vision.  Last minute changes are common in these types of projects and they do include additional costs.

The Body Work

Our bodyman technician will do the following (as needed):

Ultimately our goal is that all the panels fit and the lines of your car are seamless.  This prepares your car for a great paint job.

A Note to Clients With “Paint-Ready” Cars

If you want to save money by doing the body work yourself or by taking your car to a cheap quantity body shop in hopes that our paint job will cover all their mistakes.  We are not magicians nor can we make miracles.  Even the best paint job can’t hide crooked lines, uneven panels, huge gaps, and incorrectly installed parts.  Bondo and paint can only fix so much but it can’t hide bad cheap body work.

The Paint Job

After our professional body repair work.  The bodyman assistant will prepare you car for paint application.  He is responsible for:

An award-winning mopar’s paint job starts with a professional body repair, bondo, and plenty of sanding.  West Coast Body and Paint is a quality shop which means we take our time on each car to get the work, materials, and methods right the first time.  Since we are professionals we take extra steps to give you the best outcome and save you money in the long run.   And if you sell your car down the line, it might even make you money.

Our paint technician makes sure all the lines are straight, there are no gaps, all the panels and parts are in their proper place.  With that out of the way, the paint technician will apply the following:

  • Primers
  • Sealers
  • Base coats
  • Color coats
  • Top coats

Each stage is often done more than once and sanding happens in between each coat.  After the entire paint process is complete you car will get a professional detail and will be ready for you to take for a ride.  If you want a more detailed explanation of the cost and process read our restorations page.
